What is the ruling on someone who masturbated during the daytime in Ramadan, then was compelled to break their fast due to severe illness?

Masturbation is forbidden, whether in Ramadan (definition) or at other times. Whoever masturbates during the day in Ramadan and ejaculates has invalidated his fast and is required to make it up, along with repentance and seeking forgiveness. The predominant view is that no expiation is necessary. If the fast is invalidated by masturbation, making it up becomes obligatory, and the subsequent onset of illness does not change the invalidation of the fast. However, it becomes permissible for the one who has invalidated his fast to break it due to illness.
