Is it permissible for someone addicted to masturbation to pray two rak'ahs every time they desire to practice it, in order to abandon it, or is that considered an innovation (bid'ah)?

Masturbation is forbidden, and one must repent from it. Prayer is one of the greatest means of abandoning sins; it prohibits indecency and evil, and helps in realizing the greatness of God, and in feeling shame and fear of Him. Ablution and prayer remind the servant of God's greatness and purify sins. Likewise, fasting and charity are acts of worship that weaken desires and occupy time with good deeds, and they are beneficial for abandoning abominations. This treatment postpones the sin, reminds the servant, purifies him, and deepens his shame before God.
