What is required of one who practices masturbation and then abandons the prayers after that? Must he make up the missed obligatory prayers, or can he perform supererogatory prayers for expiation?

One must hasten to abandon this vile habit that compromises dignity and integrity, and repent for neglecting prayers, as this constitutes major sins that some scholars consider to be bordering on disbelief. Repentance entails abandoning the disobedience, regretting it, and resolving not to return to it. One should also increase voluntary prayers to compensate for the missed obligatory prayers, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, the first thing mankind will be called to account for from their deeds on the Day of Resurrection is prayer... If he has voluntary prayers, Allah will say: 'Complete for My servant his obligatory prayers from his voluntary ones.'"
