What is the ruling on one who owns a media project that includes the internet and the copying of laser discs for people containing films, songs, and sports, and is the ruling on the internet project alone the same as the ruling on working with laser discs?

It is forbidden to copy discs containing prohibited content such as movies and songs. However, it is permissible to copy discs containing nasheeds (chants) without music, beneficial content, or purposeful films that are free from prohibited elements.

Renting internet services and using them for scientific research, news, and similar purposes is permissible. However, if the service is used for something forbidden by Islamic law, and customers cannot be prevented from doing so, then one must refrain from renting it out. It is also forbidden for the project owner himself to use the internet for illicit purposes.
