How are marital problems solved according to Islamic Sharia and the Holy Quran? Is it permissible to involve friends or call upon two witnesses from the couple's families to resolve them? And whom should one consult: the Sheikh, the family, or friends?

When a rift occurs between a married couple, they should resolve their problems between themselves without informing anyone else. If the dispute intensifies and they are unable to resolve it, then it is permissible to appoint two just arbitrators, knowledgeable in jurisprudence, from their families to reconcile between them, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "And if you fear dissension between the two, send an arbitrator from his people and an arbitrator from her people. If they both desire reconciliation, Allah will cause agreement between them." The two arbitrators should be from the husband's and wife's families to preserve the privacy of the dispute. As for seeking consultation, it should be from trustworthy individuals known for their sound judgment, insight, and jurisprudential knowledge, whether they are a sheikh, a friend, or a family member.
