Will a 19-year-old medical student be committing a sin if he temporarily stops learning and memorizing the Qur’an until his exams are over, especially given that he commits to reading a hizb of the Qur’an daily, and his parents wish for him to postpone the lessons?

The encouragement to memorize the Quran has come in many hadiths, such as the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "The best of you is he who learns the Quran and teaches it," and his saying: "Indeed, Allah elevates some people with this word and debases others with it," and his saying: "There is no envy except in two: a man whom Allah has given the Quran, so he recites it during the hours of the night and the hours of the day." These texts show that Allah has bestowed upon you a great favor by learning and memorizing the Quran, so preserve this blessing. There is no harm in temporarily delaying Quran lessons to attend to other matters, as long as the period of absence is not prolonged and you return to learning it once your preoccupations cease.
