What is the ruling on wiping over khuffs or socks made from monkey skin?

Animal skins are divided into three categories: First, the skin of an animal whose meat is permissible to eat, if it is slaughtered according to Islamic law. This is pure, whether tanned or not. Second, the skin of an animal whose meat is permissible to eat, but which died a natural death (a carcass). This becomes pure through tanning. Third, the skin of an animal whose meat is not permissible to eat, such as beasts of prey and monkeys. This is impure whether slaughtered or tanned, and it does not become pure through tanning. Based on this, it is not permissible to wear the skins of animals whose meat is not permissible to eat during prayer or to wipe over them for ritual purification (ablution), even after tanning, due to the condition of purity for clothing and foot coverings.
