Is donating the monetary value of the Aqiqah to poor and needy Palestinians better than sacrificing, given that I have been blessed with a baby girl and wish to perform the Aqiqah for her?

Scholars have stated that slaughtering the 'aqiqah is better than donating its value, in order to revive the Sunnah and out of fear of it being forgotten. However, donating the value of the 'aqiqah may be preferable when there is a pressing need or a preponderant benefit, such as the urgent need of our brethren in Palestine who are defending the sanctities of the Ummah. Supporting them is an obligation upon every Muslim, with wealth and otherwise. Ibn Taymiyyah encouraged equipping the fighters with money for those who cannot participate in jihad themselves, and the permissibility of taking funds from zakat, sadaqat, and other sources to support jihad, even if these were funds that could not be returned to their owners, in which case they should be spent in the path of Allah.
