What is meant by "denouncing evil with the heart"?

Denouncing evil with the heart occurs when a Muslim is unable to change it with their hand or tongue. Its place is when the believer feels aversion and hatred towards the evil, wishes they could change it, and is saddened by their inability to do so. This is a sign of the sincerity of denouncing evil with the heart. It should also include asking Allah for help in changing and removing this affliction. If a person is unable to change the evil, but is able to leave the place where Allah is disobeyed, then they must leave it and not suffice with only denouncing it with the heart.
