It is impermissible to hang pictures of animate beings, especially pictures of disbelievers like the Pharaohs, due to the veneration and exaltation implied therein. However, there is no objection to having children's toys and pictures of civilized drawings that do not violate Islamic law, and praying in a house where they are present. Indeed, Aisha used to keep her toys in her house, and it was not narrated that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, found it objectionable to pray near them.
