Was my asking for approval for the surgical procedures for my prematurely born twin sons a mistake? And was not circumcising them before burial a violation of Sharia? And was my not being present at the moments of my second son's death a mistake, especially since he was under the care of non-Muslim doctors and nurses? And does my crying upon seeing pictures of my sons after their death contradict patience?

You are not mistaken in agreeing to the operations for your children, for seeking medical treatment is commanded. Burying the two boys uncircumcised is valid. There is no error in leaving the child in the care of disbelieving doctors and nurses, and there is no harm in his death in their presence. Your staying with your wife, whose health has deteriorated, is correct. Keeping pictures should only be for necessity or need, especially if they cause you grief. Weeping for the deceased without raising one's voice or uttering indecent words is permissible. Weeping due to a feeling of guilt is good, but you bear no guilt. We ask Allah to make your two children a predecessor and a treasure for both of you, and to grant you righteous offspring.
