Will the Umrah of one who drinks alcohol be accepted if he performs it two weeks after drinking, or must he postpone it?

Some scholars explain the non-acceptance of a drunkard's prayer for forty days by stating that alcohol remains in his body for this period. This is their independent reasoning (ijtihad). The ruling applies to one who persists in sin and does not repent. As for the one who repents, Allah accepts his repentance, and his acts of obedience are accepted. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever drinks alcohol, Allah will not accept his prayer for forty mornings. If he repents, Allah will accept his repentance." So, one who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin. If the drinker repents, Allah wipes away his sin and accepts his acts of obedience, and he should hasten to perform acts of obedience. As for the non-repentant, he is at risk of having his worship rejected. Nevertheless, he should hasten to perform acts of obedience, and his obedience is valid even if he is still engaged in sin. Prayer is specifically mentioned because it is the best act of physical worship; if it is not accepted, then other acts are even more likely not to be accepted.
