Is it permissible to maintain a single ablution for all prayers due to extreme laziness?
Praying more than one obligatory prayer with a single ablution is permissible as long as the ablution is not invalidated, even though it is recommended to renew ablution for each prayer. The command to perform ablution for every prayer was once obligatory but then abrogated, and renewing it for each prayer became recommended, which is what the people of fatwa subsequently agreed upon. Many hadiths indicate this, such as the hadith: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was commanded to perform ablution for every prayer—whether he was in a state of purity or not—then when it became difficult for him, ablution was waived for him except in case of ritual impurity." And his, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "Were it not that I would overburden my Ummah, I would have commanded them to perform ablution with every prayer and use a miswak with every ablution." Renewing ablution is among the great acts of worship due to the authentic hadiths that mention its virtues, such as the forgiveness of sins and the opening of the gates of Paradise. And his, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "Whoever performs ablution while already in a state of purity, Allah will record for him ten good deeds."
