Is it obligatory for someone who suffers from excessive flatulence and passing wind to perform ablution for every prayer, or is it permissible for him to perform a single ablution for two prayers combined at one time if he is unable to perform ablution for every prayer due to work circumstances?

The one who performs ablution for every prayer after its time has begun is the person afflicted with urinary incontinence ( سلس) or similar conditions, such as uncontrollable flatulence. This refers to someone who is overwhelmingly affected by an impurity such that they cannot find a period long enough to perform the prayer with a valid purification during the allotted time. Sheikh Al-Uthaymeen said: "Whenever a mukallaf (accountable person) experiences hardship by not combining prayers, it is permissible for him to combine them." Some early Muslims permitted combining prayers out of necessity for someone who does not make it a habit, whereas the majority of scholars do not consider combining permissible in such a situation.
