A question regarding combining prayers for a person who suffers from involuntary flatulence, as he performs ablution for each prayer. He read a fatwa that permits combining prayers due to hardship, then he read that the majority of scholars do not permit it. He has been utilizing the concession of combining prayers in some cases since July 2009, especially because he spends a long time performing ablution, which causes psychological stress. He asks about the validity of his past prayers and whether he needs to repeat them, knowing that he followed the fatwa believing that taking the concession of combining prayers is better than neglecting prayer.

Combining two prayers is permissible for one excused due to urinary incontinence ( سلس ) or involuntary flatulence ( انفلات الريح ), according to the school of thought of Imam Ahmad. If you adopt this view and act upon it based on a fatwa from someone you trust among the people of knowledge, there is no blame upon you, and you are not required to repeat the prayers. However, it is more cautious to avoid combining prayers and instead perform ablution for each prayer after its time has begun. One should disregard obsessive doubts ( الوسواس ), as normal ablution suffices, and what exits during or after it does not harm until the entry of the time for the next prayer. This is part of Allah's facilitation and lifting of hardship from His servants.
