What is the ruling on a man passing in front of a child who is praying towards a sutrah?
If a worshiper prays facing a sutrah (an object placed in front to mark off the prayer area), it is not permissible to pass between him and his sutrah. If he does not pray facing a sutrah, it is not permissible to pass between him and his place of prostration. This applies to every worshiper, due to the generality of the hadith: "If the one who passes in front of a worshiper knew what [sin] was upon him, it would be better for him to stand for forty [years/days/etc.] than to pass in front of him."
