Is officially opening mosques in the presence of a delegation from the Ministry of Endowments, delivering speeches on the virtues of mosques, and preparing food, considered among the forbidden innovations?

Opening a mosque by inviting scholars to deliver a speech or lecture to introduce the mosque and encourage people to pray in it and maintain it is a praiseworthy objective, for mosques were built for the remembrance of Allah. There is no objection to serving dinner on such an occasion, as long as it is not believed to have a special or an additional virtue, for feeding people is a praiseworthy act in Islamic law.
