Is studying fine arts permissible or forbidden in our current era, especially since it includes sculpture, which has been said to resemble the making of idols? Can art be utilized to serve and defend the religion, considering that sculpture will only be learned as a university course without practical application?

Learning sculpture, photography, and drawing is forbidden. However, applying what one has learned is permissible for things that have no soul, or for living beings whose heads are severed. It is forbidden for animate beings (with intact heads). Whoever wishes to serve Islam should do so by teaching revelation and calling others to it.
