Is it right to refrain from marriage because the father refused to live in a rented apartment instead of a luxurious one he bought with usurious money, in order to avoid increasing the sin of the father who deals in usury and withholds zakat?

Usury is a grave sin, and engaging in it causes the effacement of blessings and brings a curse upon those who deal in it. As for withholding Zakat, it is one of the major sins, but it does not make it unlawful to deal with someone who withholds Zakat. Unlawfully acquired money is forbidden only for the one who earns it, but it is not forbidden for someone who takes it through lawful means. Therefore, there is no sin upon a son who occupies an apartment that his father purchased with usurious money, especially if his refusal would anger his father and not influence him to abandon usury. Whoever repents from dealing in usury, if the money is still present, he must dispose of it; but if he has used it, there is nothing upon him. Repenting from usury does not necessitate selling what was dwelled in with that money, and this is part of theasing repentance. The son should honor his father and remind him of the prohibition of usury and the need to hasten to abandon it, and he should hasten to marry if he is able.
