If the divorce is due to the wife's ill-conduct, then there is no sin or detestability in it, and it is permissible out of necessity. If the wife is negligent in prayer and cannot be persuaded to perform it, then divorcing her is recommended, and it may even be obligatory, due to the detriment to religious practice and the fear of corrupting the marital bed. It is advised not to rush into divorce, but rather to strive to reform the wife and be patient with her.
