What is the ruling on disposing of the surplus from the revenue of an endowment designated for a specific mosque, after the endowed property has transformed into a large commercial building, knowing that the available amount now exceeds the mosque's needs?

It is permissible to disburse surplus funds from a mosque to other mosques or to those deserving, because the intention of the endower is to draw closer to Allah, and that is achieved thereby. Scholars have adduced as proof what remains from the mosque's mats and oil, stating that it is permissible to use them for another mosque or to give them as charity to the poor. The same applies to surplus wood from a mosque and its demolished parts. They also cited what Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, narrated concerning the Kaaba's coverings, which used to be sold, and their proceeds spent in the way of Allah and on the needy.
