What is the ruling on a husband saying to his wife, "You are divorced, you are divorced," after a long quarrel and her saying to him, "You and she are under my shoe"?

Anger does not prevent the occurrence of divorce unless the person reaches a state of unconsciousness. Regarding the repetition of the word "divorced," if you intended to effect a divorce with the first utterance and made the second an affirmation, or if you had no intention, then only one divorce is binding upon you. However, if you intended to effect two divorces, then both occur together. Accordingly, if the divorce has occurred once or twice, and has not been preceded by what would complete three divorces, you may reconcile with your wife before her 'iddah (waiting period) ends. But if the total number of divorces reaches three, then she is unlawful for you until she marries another man in a valid marriage and he consummates it with her, and then divorces her.
