If a woman experiencing post-natal bleeding (nifas) stops bleeding, she must purify herself and pray. There is no minimum duration for nifas according to the majority of scholars. If she is unable to perform a full ritual bath (ghusl), she should wash as much of her body as she can, then perform tayammum (dry ablution) for the remainder, based on the verse: "So fear Allah as much as you are able." If performing ghusl would cause her harm, she should perform tayammum and pray, and that will be sufficient for her. If she performs tayammum, it becomes permissible for her husband to have intercourse with her, as she has purified herself through a legally sanctioned purification, based on the verse: "Then when they have purified themselves, then come to them from where Allah has ordered you."
