Is a husband’s detention of his wife in her home, preventing her from visiting her family, and preventing them from visiting her, along with his threat to marry another woman, considered “detention with kindness” (imsaak bi-ma‘roof)? And is he entitled to do that?

Marital problems are natural, and the important thing is for the couple to be sensible and hasten to resolve them so that Satan does not interfere and spoil their relationship.

If each spouse knows and fulfills the rights and duties of the other, the relationship will be built on harmony, affection, and happiness.

It is permissible for the wife to inform her father of her problem with her husband for intervention and reconciliation, but she should be cautious and consider the benefit of doing so.

It is not permissible for the husband to prevent the wife's parents from visiting her, unless there is a proven harm to him as a result. If the prohibition is without reason, there is a difference of opinion among scholars regarding the obligation to obey him.

It is preferable and safer for the wife to limit communication with her parents to social media, and to seek Allah’s help in reconciling with her husband, and to seek assistance from wise family members when necessary.
