How long was the period between the creation of Adam and Muhammad, peace be upon them both?

The Sharia has not specified a time period between Adam and Muhammad (peace be upon them both), nor is Adam's age known. Despite the existence of various hadiths and narrations, some authentic and some disputed, they do not cover the entire period. Among the periods for which authentic evidence has been reported are: the duration of Noah's da'wah (call to God), which was 950 years, and the period between Jesus and Muhammad, which was 600 years. Among the periods for which hadiths with disputed authenticity have been reported are: the period between Adam and Noah (ten centuries), and the period between Noah and Abraham (ten centuries). As for the period between Moses and Jesus, narrations estimate it at 1700 years. Determining the total period between Adam and Muhammad is difficult due to scholars' differing interpretations of the meaning of "century" and the lack of specification for the period between Abraham and Moses. These matters are not devotional, nor do actions depend on them; what is more important is emulating the prophets.
