Is it true that one should not speak with others during Iʿtikāf?

I'tikaf is the act of staying in the mosque for the obedience of Allah, with the aim of dedicating oneself to worship. Therefore, the one performing I'tikaf should be diligent in this. However, speaking briefly and in a low voice with visitors is permissible, based on the hadith of Safiyyah, the Prophet's wife (peace be upon him), which indicates the permissibility of a woman visiting the one performing I'tikaf and speaking with him. The actions of the one performing I'tikaf are divided into: prescribed (like worship), forbidden (like leaving without an excuse), and permissible (like speaking briefly), while it is obligatory to avoid wasting precious time with idle talk, as the objective is devotion.
