Is it permissible for a woman to perform I'tikaf in the mosque, and is her I'tikaf valid without her parents' consent, and what are the rulings and manner of I'tikaf?

We previously mentioned the permissibility of I'tikaf for both men and women. A woman's I'tikaf is conditioned upon there being no fitnah (temptation or discord); if fitnah is feared, then it is not permissible, such as her performing I'tikaf in a mosque where there is no designated area for women. As for the parents' unwillingness for their daughter to perform I'tikaf, if it is a non-obligatory I'tikaf and they forbid her from it, then it is not permissible to disobey them, for their obedience is obligatory while I'tikaf is a supererogatory act. If she disobeys them and performs I'tikaf, her I'tikaf is valid, but she incurs sin by disobeying them. However, if they do not forbid her but merely dislike it, then it is permissible for her to perform I'tikaf. I'tikaf is the staying in a mosque for worship.
