Is it permissible for a woman to observe I'tikaf in the mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan?

A woman is permitted to perform Iʿtikāf (spiritual retreat) in the mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan. Iʿtikāf is a Sunnah for both men and women. The Mothers of the Believers, may Allah be pleased with them, used to perform Iʿtikāf with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and after his passing. As narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her: "The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to perform Iʿtikāf in the last ten days of Ramadan until Allah took his soul. Then his wives performed Iʿtikāf after him." This indicates that women are like men regarding Iʿtikāf, and its place is the mosques where congregational prayers are established.
