What is the nisab for livestock in Zakat?

Zakat is obligatory on livestock, which includes camels, cattle, and sheep, provided they reach the nisab (threshold) and are sāʾimah (grazing on permissible forage for most of the year) rather than maʿlūfah (fodder-fed), unless they are intended for trade.

1. Nisab for Camels: It begins with five camels, in which case one sheep is due. For 25 camels, a bint makhāḍ (a one-year-old she-camel) is due. The nisab increases with the number of camels as detailed in the hadith of Abu Bakr. 2. Nisab for Cattle: Thirty, in which case a tabīʿ or tabīʿah (a one-year-old male or female calf) is due. For every 40, a musinnah (a two-year-old cow) is due. 3. Nisab for Sheep: Forty sheep, in which case one sheep is due. Then two sheep for 121, three sheep for 201, and for every 100 sheep after 300, one sheep is due.
