Is it permissible to continue seeking knowledge for someone who suffers from watching pornographic films and images and practicing masturbation, knowing that he has benefited from the Internet in learning many religious matters?

Modern devices must be used in ways that please Allah. Strengthening faith and feeling Allah's constant watchfulness are among the most important means to avoid using them in disobedience. One can benefit from them academically through programming with other students for collaborative study or listening to lessons. A Muslim should also get married, observe voluntary fasting, refrain from excessive looking and thinking, and read books on spiritual refinement (Raqaiq), encouragement (Targhib), and deterrence (Tarhib). Masturbation is forbidden due to the aggression and harm it entails.
