Is fasting without prayer acceptable in Ramadan, knowing that the abandonment of prayer is not due to laziness but because it is prohibited in the army?

Prayer and fasting are two fundamental pillars of Islam. Prayer is the greatest pillar after the Two Testimonies (Shahadatayn). Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on one who abandons prayer while acknowledging its obligation. Those who hold that he does not commit major disbelief (kufr akbar) believe that his fasting is valid, and he must repent and make up for the missed prayers. Those who hold that he commits major disbelief believe that his deeds are nullified, and fasting will not benefit him. A Muslim must maintain his prayers, for they are the first thing a servant will be held accountable for, and their obligation does not cease as long as he is sane. If working in the military prevents one from performing prayer, then the Muslim must leave it and seek another job, for there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator.
