Is it permissible to repeat adhkar (remembrances of God) without limit, and what is a sufficient number of daily adhkar to counter the whispers of Satan?

One must differentiate between adhkār (remembrances) that are restricted by a number, time, or state, which must be adhered to exactly as they were transmitted by the Sharīʿah (Islamic law) without addition or omission, and the absolute adhkār which are encouraged to be recited frequently without restriction, such as "There is no god but Allah alone, without partner..." and "Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him."

It is not permissible to commit to a specific number or time for absolute adhkār, believing it to be a Sunnah (definition) (prophetic tradition); lest it become an additional innovation (bidʿah iḍāfīyah).

The prophetic adhkār and supplications are the best, and it is not permissible for anyone to establish for people adhkār or supplications that are not from the Sunnah and make them a regular act of worship, because this is an innovation in religion.

Whoever introduces into worship something that is not from it, claiming it to be Sunnah, has sinned from four aspects: abandoning what is legislated, correcting the Sharīʿah, deeming desirable what is not legislated, and misleading the public into believing its legitimacy.

Whoever perseveres in the adhkār transmitted from the Prophet, peace be upon him, in various acts of worship and states, is among those who remember Allah often, just like one who performs the five daily prayers with their rights, or one who wakes his family and they pray two rakʿāt (units of prayer).
