Is it permissible for a wife to abandon her husband in bed, claiming an inability to tolerate the smell of smoking, with the aim of making him quit smoking, given that his smoking is accompanied by his abandonment of prayer and the Quran and his commission of other forbidden acts?

A woman is permitted to refuse intimacy with her husband if she is severely harmed by the smell of his smoking, and she would not be considered disobedient (nashizah) for doing so. However, if the refusal is intended to deter him from smoking, then this is not permissible, as it is not the wife's right to discipline her husband. Instead, she should seek reward from Allah in dealing with him, enjoin him to good, and forbid him from evil, while obeying him in what is good and respecting his rights.
