It is permissible for a husband to keep his wife despite her unwillingness and her feeling towards him being like that of a sister, as this does not prevent him from enjoying her, and these feelings may change. It is not permissible for a woman to refuse her husband's bed for this reason, but if she falls short in his rights, she may seek a divorce, and if he refuses, she may seek a khulʿ (dissolution of marriage) by paying him money, provided he agrees. It is commendable for the husband to consent.
