Does changing "one far away who makes me grieve" to "a friend who ignores me" in the Supplication of Ta'if – despite knowing its weakness – and attributing it to personal experience, constitute a distortion of the Prophet's words, peace and blessings be upon him, or a deliberate lie against him?

We have clarified the permissibility of supplicating with what is mentioned in a weak hadith, and it is supplicated with as a prayer, not a proven hadith; for it is not a condition for supplication to be narrated. Changing the wording of the aforementioned supplication is not considered a distortion of the Prophet's hadith, peace and blessings be upon him, because it is not authentically attributed to him. If it were authentic, it would not be permissible to change its wordings.
