Was the dwelling place of the people of Prophet Noah (peace be upon him) in Yemen, and is Yemen the origin of humankind on Earth, as indicated by the noble verse: "And remember when He made you successors after the people of Noah"?

The fundamental principle is to focus on what benefits the believer in their religious and worldly life. Deliberately asking about matters for which no detailed information or authentic reports exist, and for which knowledge brings no benefit nor ignorance any harm, is closer to the forbidden over-elaboration.

Imam al-Tabari, in his exegesis of the verse: (Mankind was one single nation, and Allah sent forth Prophets as bearers of good news and as warners) Al-Baqarah/213, mentioned that the period when people were one nation before disagreement might have been from the time of Adam to Noah, or when their creation was presented to Adam, or at another time. There is no definitive proof to pinpoint the exact time, and being unaware of it causes no harm, just as knowing it brings no benefit unless it is an act of obedience to Allah. The Qur’an clearly indicates that they were one nation in faith and the true religion, evidenced by Allah's warning against disagreement, not against unity.

As for the story of Noah (peace be upon him), its time is ancient, and what we are certain of is what Allah has informed us. Scholars mentioned that Noah's people resided in "the Arabian Peninsula and Iraq." Historians agree that the flood in Noah's time destroyed all human habitation on Earth, and all the inhabitants of the Earth subsequently descended from him. Genealogists and exegetes agree that Noah's children, from whom the nations branched out, were three: Sam, Ham, and Japheth, and they are the origins of the various peoples.
