What is the ruling on designating places in shops for hanging "love locks," in imitation of the West?

Placing "love locks" is impermissible for the following reasons:

1. Imitating Disbelievers and Transgressors: This behavior is reprehensible, indicative of frivolity, attachment to delusions, and corruption. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade imitating them.

2. Believing in the Perpetuity of Love: If the person placing the lock believes that this act leads to the perpetuity of love, then it is akin to amulets, and this is shirk (polytheism) because it attributes causality to something that is not a cause. This action has no effect whatsoever on initiating or sustaining love.

3. Promoting Illicit Relationships: These locks contribute to encouraging forbidden love, infatuation, and illicit relationships, and to spreading indecency in society, which the Holy Quran has forbidden.
