Does the grandmother inherit from her deceased grandson if his mother is his sole heir?

The grandmother does not inherit when the direct mother is present, based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "The grandmother is given a sixth, if there is no mother below her." The mother thus excludes the grandmother because anyone who inherits through an heir is superseded by that heir's presence, except for uterine siblings. Therefore, if the deceased has no heir other than the mother, she inherits all of the estate: one-third as a prescribed share, and the remainder by ردًّا (return). It is recommended for her to provide for her grandmother and anyone who has no share in the inheritance, as Allah Almighty says: "And when [other] relatives and orphans and the needy are present at the time of division, then provide for them [something] from it and speak to them words of kindness."
