Does the granddaughter have the right to inherit from her deceased grandfather who did not bequeath anything to her, and whose estate was divided among his wife, daughters, and brother?

The granddaughter has no share in her grandfather's inheritance because the daughters exhaust the two-thirds share, and there is no male relative to make her an 'asaba (agnate heir), whether she is rich or poor. This is unless the grandfather bequeathed to her something not exceeding one-third of the inheritance. It is recommended for the heirs to give her something from the inheritance at the time of distribution, to gladden her heart, acting upon the words of Allah Almighty: "And when [other] relatives and orphans and the needy are present at the time of division, then provide them [something] from it and speak to them words of appropriate kindness."
