How is the inheritance of a deceased grandmother, who has no living sons or daughters, distributed, when she has grandchildren from sons who died before her, and a living sister?

1. Grandchildren through a daughter (daughter's children) do not inherit, by scholarly consensus.

2. If the grandchildren through a son are males, they receive all the wealth, with the male receiving the share of two females. The sister receives nothing, as she is excluded by the presence of a male descendant.

3. If the son's children are only females, they receive two-thirds, and the sister takes the remainder by ta'sib (residuary heirship), as she becomes an 'asaba (residuary heir) with daughters or son's daughters.

4. The "obligatory bequest" (al-wasiyyah al-wajiba) is an unjust ruling and contrary to the law of Allah.
