Does the pronoun "هو" (he/it) in the Shaykh's statement, "or it is said he is a Taghut considering his worshiper, follower, and obedient one," refer to one who is worshipped besides Allah while being displeased with it, or does it refer to the definition of Taghut in terms of its consideration by the worshipped or by its worshiper?

It appears that the pronoun in the verse refers to what was worshipped besides Allah, meaning that the worshippers elevated their object of worship and exceeded its bounds. There is no dispute over terminology; whoever restricts Taghut to one who is worshipped and is pleased with it thereby excludes Jesus (peace be upon him) from the objection, and this is what Sheikh Al-Uthaymeen intended. As for one who is worshipped unknowingly, they are free from sin. However, their worshippers have committed disbelief, and they must abandon their worship for their faith to be valid, as Allah states: "So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no breaking thereof."
