Is it obligatory to choose the cheapest car insurance when compelled to do so, or is it permissible to choose slightly more expensive insurance that offers greater benefit?

Insurance is of two types: that which is forbidden, such as commercial insurance, and that which is permissible, such as cooperative insurance. Whoever is compelled to engage in forbidden insurance must subscribe to the cheapest type of insurance, because necessities are estimated according to their measure, and harm must be minimized if it cannot be avoided, as Allah Almighty says: "But whoever is forced, neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit] - then there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful." It is permissible for the compelled person to take from the insurance only what he paid into it.
