What the husband is doing to his mother is an act of great disobedience and a grave sin. He must repent sincerely, seek his mother's رضا (pleasure/contentment) and forgiveness, and increase his devotion to her; for she is the most deserving of his dutifulness and good companionship. Whoever is deprived of her dutifulness has been deprived of a great good. If he desires his children to be dutiful to him, then let him be dutiful to his parents. The wife should advise her husband gently, but if she fears harm, she should enlist someone to advise him.
