Does God accept Hajj, or supplication, or good deeds from a body nourished by unlawful earnings, even if the Hajj expenses are from lawful money? And how can a Muslim purify himself from unlawful money from which his body has grown? And is it permissible to eat from the food of one's family if the source of their income is dubious?
First: Working in cigarette factories is forbidden (), and earning from it is likewise forbidden. It is obligatory to advise the brother who works in them to fear Allah and purify his earnings. Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen states that working in these companies is assisting in what is forbidden, and the wages earned are forbidden. The worker must repent and leave the job.
Second: The forbidden work that the father was engaged in does not affect his family members in several ways: 1. Maintenance (): The maintenance that the father spent on you is lawful for you. The saying "and was nourished by the unlawful" applies to the one who earns unlawful money or benefits from it for himself while knowing its prohibition. This maintenance has no effect on your worship. 2. Inheritance: What the father left behind as an inheritance is lawful for his heirs. Its gains are for them, and its burdens are upon him. 3. Pension: The unlawfulness of the father's work has no effect on the pension that the mother receives, because it is not from her earnings but from her husband's earnings, and the reason for entitlement is different.
