Is the wife entitled to personal maintenance from her husband, whose monthly income exceeds 800,000 Saudi Riyals, while he gives her only 12,000 Saudi Riyals to cover the expenses of a large house (20 people) and the maintenance of 8 cars, an amount that barely suffices and leaves her with no personal allowance?

Moderation in spending is an Islamic principle. If the questioner is responsible for managing her household affairs, she should reduce non-essential expenses and consult with her husband. The husband is obligated to provide for his wife's maintenance and clothing in a reasonable manner, according to their financial status, whether rich or poor. If the husband refuses to provide maintenance, the wife is permitted to take it from his wealth, even without his permission. In case of disagreement, the matter should be referred to a Sharia judge.
