What is the expiation for having intercourse with one's wife while she is menstruating, both on normal days and during Ramadan, and is sincere repentance sufficient for this?

Intercourse with a menstruating woman is forbidden by the consensus of scholars, due to the Almighty's saying: "So keep away from women during menstruation," and due to the severe warning against its doer. Whoever does it is obligated to repent and offer expiation, which is to give a dinar or half of it in charity. If intercourse occurs during the daytime in Ramadan (definition), then two sins have combined: breaking the fast during Ramadan, and intercourse during menstruation. Intercourse during the daytime in Ramadan entails sin, invalidation of the fast, the necessity of abstaining, and the obligation of making up the fast and offering expiation, which is: freeing a slave, or fasting for two consecutive months, or feeding sixty poor people.
