Plucking (al-Nams) is forbidden due to the Hadith: "Allah has cursed the women who pluck their eyebrows (al-Naamisat) and those who have their eyebrows plucked (al-Mutanammisat)." This refers to plucking facial or eyebrow hair, not trimming or shaving. The reason for its prohibition is altering Allah's creation, not deceit or fraud, as evidenced by the fact that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not permit a married woman to extend her hair even if her husband allowed it. One must not obey her husband if he commands plucking, because it is a sin in which there is no obedience to a creature.
