Is it permissible to draw cartoon characters for the purpose of entertainment and amusement?

The majority of scholars prohibit drawing complete images of animate beings. The intention of entertainment does not permit prohibited drawing. However, if the drawings are missing a part essential for life, such as the head or chest, some scholars have permitted it. Similarly, drawing is permissible if it serves a public interest, such as drawing purposeful cartoons for children to teach them manners and virtues.
