What is the ruling on drawing cartoons and anime merely for entertainment, and is it permissible with the intention of not imitating Allah’s creation, taking into account the hadith: "Actions are but by intentions," or is it obligatory to completely or partially efface certain features?

The fundamental ruling concerning drawing animate beings is prohibition. However, there is no harm in drawing images that are limited to the face alone without the body, or the body alone without the head. This is because the removal of a part of the image, without which it cannot be complete, exempts it from the ruling of prohibited drawing, such as cutting off the head of the image, or cutting off that which would not allow the animal to survive after its removal, like its chest or abdomen. As for effacing only the nose or only the mouth, it is not permissible, because the living being remains after their removal.
