Does the divorce of one who is astonished take effect?

If a person is so bewildered that he loses his mind and does not comprehend what he is saying, then his divorce does not take effect, because he is in the same category as someone whose mind has departed due to a valid excuse, like the insane or the unconscious. This is supported by the saying of Ali, may Allah be pleased with him: "Every divorce is permissible except the divorce of the imbecile."
